LIGHTING
MACEO holds the all time island record for the number of streetlights installed in a single council term at a whopping 107.
PARKS
MACEO secured over $200k for Lindale Park in just one term on city council.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
Infrastructure investments like the West Market project have proven to drive economic activity, improve safety, and increase sales tax revenue. Quantify that.
FUN FACT:
During his 2016 rookie term on council, Maceo beat out seasoned council veterans Yarbrough and Brown for "Best Council member" in Galveston.com's 'Best of Awards'.
Focus on Residents
I am over the moon in announcing my 2024 candidacy for Galveston Mayor. We live in the coolest city west of the Sabine and I love it. Our culture is one of a kind, our beaches are a natural wonder, and Arlan’s Market has the best fried chicken in the state. I am honored to have another opportunity to serve you.

In 2016, I was elected to represent District 3 on our city council. I was fortunate to have served alongside council veterans to bring much needed infrastructure to our island. I knew investments in our neighborhoods were vital. Streets, streetlights, curbs, sidewalks, alleys, and drainage solutions were a priority for everyone. Your representatives listened to your concerns and your city council delivered the largest capital improvement plan this city has ever seen. We even built a pool.
I believe investments in infrastructure drive economic growth. In my first term as mayor, I will establish dedicated funds for capital improvements that directly benefit residential neighborhoods. My plan for a new neighborhood projects fund will encourage individual council members to more regularly engage their constituency to find real solutions for real issues.
As state restrictions continue to challenge cities, our survival will depend on our ability and willingness to adapt and transition. Fundamental changes in how we fund, administer, and operate our city must be considered if we are to prosper within these new restrictions Like my Marine Corps in the Pacific, we’ll just need to do more with less. Effective city leaders will need to be extraordinarily creative in finding ways of funding and accomplishing the various missions of the city. As your next mayor, I will work to ensure that all avenues of funding have been exhausted before we put residents and taxpayers on the hook.

I remain committed to open, limited government, private property rights, and public accountability on all fronts. I believe in building consensus and keeping citizens informed. I believe in the Constitution of our United States, my beloved Marine Corps, and individual freedom. I believe our tax dollars are best spent by elected public servants, and I believe your government belongs to you.

Please consider lending me your vote. I look forward to working to ensure your freedoms, to unbridle our island’s economic potential, and to facilitate your pursuit of happiness, whatever it may be.
